Although I think I am ultimately going to have to just buy thin socks and cut the toes off, she will still need sandals with some good support and those look like they would be great. I think we have a winner!

As far as the 504 goes, we are so new to the game that I am not sure I am really qualified to say much about it. Our biggest problem has been getting the school to recognize that something is wrong. Once they finally did the testing and saw what we have seen all along, they have been great. We wanted to go with the least restrictive thing first so we went with the 504. If that doesn't work we will switch to the IEP which she qualifies for based on the dyslexia and anxiety disorder. We are in a very small district which is both a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing because there are very few people that we have to get on the same page but a curse because the resources are few. As I learn more and get further into this I will be more than happy to share what I learn.Jamiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07094218998879302000noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9167158806736185155.post-13736279043315872762011-04-04T12:01:39.083-05:002011-04-04T12:01:39.083-05:00I adore sleeping photos. I've heard in our area the 504 is easier to obtain than the IEP, but are more difficult to maintain/enforce. What's been your experience with that? I recall issues prior for you guys, if I remember correctly.~Denise~https://www.blogger.com/profile/01586221664679114198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9167158806736185155.post-91170150841612970282011-03-28T15:18:27.191-05:002011-03-28T15:18:27.191-05:00Congrats on a great, smooth transition. Kind of a cross between sandals and shoes, and come in very cute colors for little girls. They are also water friendly and extremely durable. So glad to hear about the 504 and help in school. I recently read a lot about dysgraphia - for my own daughter - and there is a specific type called Dyslexic Dysgraphia. You might find some simple, specific ideas about writing and spelling in the strategies there.
Sounds like everything is coming together, and not at a better time! A new baby, and summer fun right around the corner!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9167158806736185155.post-31297249933453446842011-03-27T21:45:31.581-05:002011-03-27T21:45:31.581-05:00Sweet post, Jamie. Days like today are "tender mercies" that come along just in time to help us through whatever may come next.

When you describe Anna, she sounds quite similar to my Nathan. We aren't nearly warm enough up here in to think about sandals but I have anyway. Nate has a full brace up one side that will be very hot. Granted, with boys wearing socks with sandals isn't nearly as big of deal as with little girls. I have to admit socks with sandals can have a dulling effect on darling summer dresses.

Take care.Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04148296718455695388noreply@blogger.com
